Do you know your Lesson in Life?

What Is Your Own Goal?

This is the question I used to open a webinar with my colleague. We described seven types of goals and how they impact our lives. We live in a time where chaos and uncertainty seem to be present everywhere. News feeds are filled with threats, technology is transforming the world, and finding a direction that aligns with our values can feel challenging. So how can we stay connected to ourselves and move forward in our lives amidst all of this?

Goals are one of the insightful themes in the Keys 2 Balance method. When you become aware of your goal, it helps bring clarity and direction to both your everyday life and major life decisions. Instead of being swept away by the current, you take the reins.

I’ve always been a seeker – the goal of growth has driven me forward and helped me make choices that support my development. But what about those times when you lose connection to yourself and your direction becomes blurry? That’s when it’s important to pause, breathe, and reflect on where you're heading.

Artificial Intelligence Is Changing Almost Everything

It’s said that the AI revolution is a bigger shift than the arrival of the internet. Some estimate that up to 50 percent of jobs will change completely. In times like this, it’s essential to adapt.

One thing that’s stayed with me throughout my life is a strong desire for continuous growth – after all, growth is my personal goal.

I’ve been exploring AI and what it brings with it. I see it like this: I can either stay on the platform and watch the AI trains go by, or I can hop on and see what kind of adventure it becomes.

I’ve already taken several courses on the topic, and when the opportunity came to join an AI community project with international students at Arcada Business School, I jumped at the chance. The project gave me new perspectives for developing my business and the student group provided me with excellent tips on AI tools suitable for my company. Thanks to this collaboration, I saved a lot of time and effort and received many practical options.

The Seven Goals

One of these goals may be guiding your decisions. Which one could be your primary goal?

  • Selectivity – always aims to narrow down and choose the best option.

  • Acceptance – strives for doing things together and creating a sense of belonging.

  • Narrowing – seeks simplicity in everything, focusing on just one main theme at a time.

  • Growth – constantly aims to develop oneself, guided by the idea that “a rolling stone gathers no moss.”

  • Devotion – wants to serve and find a worthy target for their efforts.

  • Control – seeks visible leadership and influence.

  • Relaxation – enjoys lightness and things flowing effortlessly.

We all have the opportunity to make choices that help us thrive in this new era. Sometimes that means embracing new technologies, and other times it’s simply about listening to yourself and pausing to reflect on what you truly want.

But if life feels messy and your direction is unclear, then it might be time to take a step back and ask yourself: Where am I heading? What kind of support do I need?
